A quality built log home will more likely than not appreciate in value over time. Log homes have stood the test of time and have proven to be a sound investment. A home is a large purchase and although it is possible to build a cheaper house at a slightly more inexpensive price, the value of a log home will be far greater should you choose to resell it sometime in the future.

As with any house, you are obligated to obey local building codes and standards. Having said this, it is possible for your log home to be as small as 500 square feet or even larger than 12,000 square feet depending on the building regulations in the area; there you wish to build. In your log house you can also combine full log and framed construction, especially in a two-story home. In fact, most two-story log houses are full log only on the first level. It's possible to face the outside of the second level with a matching wood treatment, like board and batten, or even purchase log siding that matches your logs.
